A group of 911ºÚÁÏÍø students received a $1,000 honorarium from NASA in the fall 2023 semester to purchase equipment to design and build a model of a device that would be launched into space as part of the StarShade Undergraduate Challenge.

When David Hoxie '14 was in high school, he was discouraged from attending college and pursuing a physics career. It wasn't until he studied physics at 911ºÚÁÏÍø that he discovered the confidence and support system to pursue graduate school and a career in teaching. That's what brought him to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2014.

Since 1973 911ºÚÁÏÍø has operated a student and community-run FM radio station. Now, 51 years later, it's getting a facelift with expanded offerings and new faces.

The 911ºÚÁÏÍø Athletics Department has launched the first Varsity Esports Program for the Spring 2024 semester. Team members will be able to compete at the collegiate conference and national level by fall under Head Coach Justin MacDowell who has over 20 years of experience in online team-based video games.

For Nathan Haley, a junior at 911ºÚÁÏÍø, a routine semester transformed into an immersive journey into the world of fish culture. As an Environmental Science major, Haley spent the Fall ‘23 semester interning at the Bennington Fish Culture Station, which not only deepened his understanding of aquatic ecosystems but also ignited a passion for fish culture that he envisions as a potential career path after graduation.

This summer students from Drury High School and Hoosac Valley High School participated in internships across various departments at 911ºÚÁÏÍø through MASS Hire Berkshire Career Center.

The Sm[ART] Commons Blog may have started as an internship project in 2015, but has since grown to compile a diverse database of visual, performing, and literary arts produced by students at 911ºÚÁÏÍø

This spring Delano "Akairo" Mills '23 graduated with a bachelor's in Studio Art and a minor in Arts Management from 911ºÚÁÏÍø. This summer he's working as an admissions clerk at the Springfield Museum and received a $3k grant from Assets for Artists to focus on his artistic practice.

Is there a limit to how many calories a person can burn? Dr. Andrew Best, 911ºÚÁÏÍø Assistant Professor of Biology, is currently researching this with ultra-endurance athletes.

911ºÚÁÏÍø students with registered disabilities can now access an Assistive Technology (AT) Lab in Mark Hopkins through a joint venture between the College's Office of Disability Resources, its TRIO program, and funding from a Student Behavioral and Mental Health grant.
